Ordering Texts
Time: 30-45 minutes
Level: Any
Materials: A reading text, either from a course book or an authentic source.� Ones with linear stories or logical structures work best.
Objective: Students will be able to identify organizational conventions in a text.
Preparation: 5 minutes--select a text, make photocopies, cut the text into logical chunks (paragraphs or ideas); prepare one copy for every two students.
Directions: After any pre-reading warm-up for the text, put students in pairs and distribute one set of text strips to each pair. � Allow students enough time to work together arrangining the text into the correct order.� Circulate, monitor, and assist.� Follow up by asigning pairs post-reading tasks.
